Why train the balanced way?

Teaching puppies with reward and consequences is a very effective tool to communicate to them your expectations and with consistency can
quickly produce a well mannered and confident dog…. If your dog has developed quirks that can be harmful or lead to undesirable behaviors and outcomes, often it’s because they don’t have an understanding of what’s expected so they make up their own rules which often leads to these behaviors, which are more difficult to correct but can be changed with guidance, consistency and time.

What I do is work with the dog owner(s)/handler(s) to teach THEM how to communicate with their dog (s) effectively to achieve whatever their goals are. As you learn, so does your dog. I’ll explain and show you why I do things and how your dog is understanding the lessons. As you the owner gain confidence by learning how to communicate with your dog you’ll see a difference. It can be an amazing transformation which is my goal with each of my clients!

What Can I Help You Do?

I’ll help you achieve your goals. I’m certified to evaluate your dog for the Canine Good Citizen certification and evaluate your dog for therapy work, if you choose, (the therapy group we are members of is Love on a Leash), and as an active member and co-leader of Love on a Leash, I can help you with the process. Another area that I also enjoy is trick training, including teaching the dog how to read their commands!

This puppy is really excelling at all of his training and has learned to read 3 of his commands! But it’s tiring work!

What to Expect...

When it comes down to it, there may be some challenging times ahead, you may hear advice that will be difficult to hear but I’ll work with you and when it gets to the point that I no longer can help you or your situation I’ll tell you rather than lead you on…

You’ll be in the driver’s seat (not your dog) for just what you want to accomplish!

The first time we meet is an assessment at no charge where we will discuss what your goals are, and what’s been happening. I’ll meet your canine and do a bit of hands on training to assess them. Then we’ll talk and if we both feel we’re a good fit and I can help you with your goals, we’ll go on to the next step where I’ll explain the fees which vary (primarily if you want private lessons or if you and a friend or friends want group lessons). If you want to proceed we fill out an information sheet and set up a day and time.
